This fall I will start a new project. It is now more then 15 years that I made my last loudspeaker setup. At that time the speakers where only made for DJ booths. Now it’s time to make small (semi) portable speakers. Because I want quality speakers, this will not be a pocket sized version.
The goals of the project
- Good sound quality
- Bluetooth 4.0
- 2-way speaker setup
- Passive 2nd order crossover
- Relative low bass response (50 - 60 Hz)
- Modular for making stereo with passive version (H-Audio BT-02)
The constrains of the project
- Max price between €150 and €200
- Max 4” 8 Ohms driver
- Ported enclosure < 5 liters
- Enclosure made out of wood
The next steps
The next steps will be the selection of drivers. Calculating the volume of the enclosure, and determin if an enclosure with a port is even possible. Then I need to create the plans for the wood dimentions, and the type of wood that I would use. After that we can design the passive twe-way crossover for the woofer and the tweeter. And the last step assemble the enclosure wth the drivers.
And all other steps we need to do between the mentioned steps. So if you are intrested, please follow this project on this website. And if all goes well maybe you can create the H-Audio BT-01 for your self.
